just give me some space.

Why do people feel the need to be right in your face when they speak? I promise I can hear you if you step back two feet. It's not like as soon as you are at a 3 foot radius from me a wall will come crashing down making it impossible for us to talk. Lets all take a moment to remember what bubble space is. Bubble space is this great thing that people have. It's not tangible, but everyone has a good idea of where the line is. It's basically an invisible circle that is placed around you marking off how close people should come to you.
I personally like how Edward Hall thinks and labels personal space. The diagram above goes from intimate space to public space. Intimate space is the zone for lovers, family, pets, and other things that you're close with. The personal space is a zone for conversations with friends or a group discussion. The social space is usually for people we just met and aren't familiar with like new acquaintances and newly formed groups. The public space is for when you are giving a speech or lecture, when you're presenting something in front of a large amount of people and need space for them to see you.

This is what we all want in life.

This is what we all get in life.
